Canyon Creek
Bluewater Lake is often low due to the little rainfall that is seen in Cibola and McKinley County throughout the year. As a result, it can be difficult for the local ranches to receive the water needed to sustain the crops that they grow. In recent years though, precipitation has been much better than expected, and the canyon creek that runs from the dam to the irrigation ditches has seen a resurgence of life. Lush and green, with the canyon trail all bu overgrown, recent years have provided a side of this beautiful place not often seen.
