Santa Maria de Acoma
Sitting in the small village of McCarty's along Route 66 just West of Acoma pueblo, this church was built and dedicated in 1933. It was constructed in the Spanish Colonial Building style, as are most missions. The parish hall - the extension in the left side of this photo - was added later in 1969. While driving along I-40 or Route 66, the church is easily seen nestled against a mesa to the south. A quick 2-minute hop off the freeway will take you to the parking lot.
